March 6, 2013: Today is a red-letter day. As has recently been announced, Beyond Binary is a Lambda Literary Award finalist in the LGBT Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror category. Also, story sale! "The Write of Years," which took third place in the 2012 Dell Awards, is to be published by Tor.com.
February 20, 2013: As was announced today, "The Finite Canvas" is a nominee for the 2012 Nebula Awards in the novelette category. I'm glad that so many folks seem to have enjoyed this story.
December 14, 2012: "The Finite Canvas" has been picked up for Gardner Dozois's The Year's Best Science Fiction: Thirtieth Annual Collection! I am very, very pleased.

August 17, 2012: Cascadia Subduction Zone has just released their special issue on Joanna Russ, to which I have contributed an essay: "Alienation and 'the Other' in the Short Fiction of Joanna Russ". The issue is available for sale all by itself (though of course it's worth subscribing to CSZ if you haven't!), and also contains work by Farah Mendlesohn, L. Timmel Duchamp, Alexis Lothian, Candra K. Gill, and Cynthia Ward.
June 5, 2012: The June issue of Apex Magazine is live, featuring my short story, "Winter Scheming."
May 9, 2012: The newest issue of Expanded Horizons, just released, includes my poem "What I Have Not Done." Woo, poetry!
May 2, 2012: Publicity dump! It's been a big month, with both We Wuz Pushed and Beyond Binary coming out. I've done interviews with Autostraddle and Nicola Griffith (this one's a three-parter), as well as a Coming Out post on the Outer Alliance blog. Enjoy!
April 8, 2012: We Wuz Pushed: On Joanna Russ and Radical Truth-telling, the thirty-second volume in Aqueduct Press's "Conversation Pieces" series, is now available for purchase in print and ebook format! This essay had its origins as the thesis I defended in November 2011, and I'm thrilled beyond the telling to see it in Aqueduct's lineup.
March 20, 2012: This is a large update: the biggest news is that, as announced here, I've accepted a position as fiction editor at Strange Horizons Magazine! On other fronts, Tor.com has previewed the amazing cover, by Rick Berry, for "The Finite Canvas." Also, the Beyond Binary release party at the University of Louisville has been announced, with details here.
February 12, 2012: Now that it's been announced: "The Writ of Years," my self-referential Lovecraftian scary story, took Third-Place Runner Up in the Dell Award contest! The list of winners, runners-up, and honorable mentions.
January 24, 2012: Tor.com will be publishing "The Finite Canvas," a novelette - and I can't wait to see the original art that'll go with it!

Dec. 15, 2010: Guess what? I've sold an urban fantasy story, "Though Smoke Shall Hide the Sun," to Tor.com! I am filled with glee and pleasure. It's about a vampire who wants to be a soldier and a soldier who wants to earn his freedom--sort of. You'll see.
